MI CuF

A cover flux developed for Copper base alloys. It is based on highly reactive hydrocarbons, which together act as a protective shield to prevent direct contact of atmospheric oxygen with liquid copper metal/alloys.

Advantages

  • Eliminates porosity resulting from gas entrapment in the metal
  • Prevents slag related defects in castings
  • Improves machining properties
  • Maintains high fluidity of molten metal
  • Scavenges dirt and other impurities from swarf and scraps
  • Can be used in induction or oil/coke fired crucible furnaces

Method of Use

  • Mix 3% by weight (total charge qty) of MI CuF to the borings and swarf before charging it into the furnace
  • Add about 0.75% by weight of MI CuF to the heel metal before charging scrap and alloys into the furnace
  • When the metal reaches 50% level in the furnace, add additional 0.75% by weight (total charge qty) of MI CuF into the furnace
  • Finally when the metal reaches full capacity of the furnace, add additional 0.75% by weight (total charge qty) of MI CuF
  • Follow regular degassing and de-oxidizing
  • Skim the slag before tapping
