Iron Melts

MI Metallurgy (for Iron)

Pre-conditioner to refine the liquid metal in order to deliver sound castings free from metallurgicals defects

Advantages

  • Provides excellent Machinability - by elimination of inter granular carbides
  • Eliminates Micro Porosity - by modifying the solidification pattern
  • Eliminates Free Crabides - by creating more nucleation sites
  • Eliminates Slag related Defects - by reducing the oxides in the liquid metal
  • Improves nodule count/nodularity - by creating more nucleation sites
  • Promotes formation of Type A Graphite flake distribution - by creating more nucleation sites
  • Reduce Section Sensitivity - by maintaning uniform hardness
  • Improves Mechanical Properties - Tensile, Yield Strength and Elongation
  • Reduces Volumetric shrinkage - by refining the silicon grains

Method Of Use

  • When the liquid metal reaches 90% furnace capacity remove slag & add MI Metallurgy+
  • Best Results are obtained by adding 0.2% (for CI) & 0.4% (for SG) of MI Metallurgy+ by weight into the furnace at around 1300 deg C (i.e., 5-10 minutes before tapping the metal)
  • Continue to super heat & charge (if required) the molten metal and check the chemistry during which time MI Metallurgy+ will go into solution
  • Remove any slag when tapping the metal
  • Regular Inoculation procedure should be followed after treating the melt with MI Metallurgy+

Mi Heatin

An Exothermic compound designed as an insulator to hold the temperature of the liquid metal both Ferrous and Non-Ferrous in the furnace/ladles over extended time durations lasting upto 4 hours without drop in temperature of the liquid metal

Advantages

  • Very good exothermic and further insulate the metal
  • Maintains the liquid metal temperature for upto 1 hrs.
  • Conserves energy and protects furnace lining
  • Maximizes productivity

Method Of Use

Remove slag from the furnace/ladle completely and add MI Heatin on top of the liquid metal and cover the entire area

MI Inoculant

A process additive, developed by our In-House R&D team to achieve the desired level of graphic distribution, machinability properties and micro structures in the manufacture of Gray and SG Iron castings

Advantages

  • Promotes Pearlitic Matrix
  • Develops greater than 95% of type 'A' graphite flake distribution
  • Reduces chilling effect
  • Improves Machinability and mechanical properties in castings
  • Increases Nodule Count & Nodularity in case of SG Iron
  • Reduces section sensitivity of castings (maintains uniform hardness)
